Hitachi M8SA2

Hand and power tools

The Hitachi M8SA2 is a fixed base electric router used for woodworking tasks such as edge forming, trimming and routing grooves. It is a mid sized unit typically fitted with a motor suited to handheld use with timber and sheet materials, and sits among the maker's general purpose routers rather than its heavier plunge routers. It is valued by tradesmen for straightforward depth adjustment and solid build.

We recognise this model across the auction sites and keep every one we see together.

On a used one

Check the collet and bearings for wear, test the depth adjustment mechanism for smooth operation, and inspect the base plate for flatness and damage. Carbon brushes and the power cord are common wear items worth asking about.

About Hitachi

Hitachi is a large Japanese industrial conglomerate founded in the early twentieth century, with a construction equipment division that has produced excavators and other earthmoving machines widely seen at auction, alongside a broad range of hand and power tools, metalworking machines, aerial platforms and cranes. The construction machinery business was later restructured under Hitachi Construction Machinery, and some power tool lines were sold to other owners. Hitachi excavators, particularly the ZX and EX series, remain common on the used equipment market worldwide.
