BMW M5

The M5 is the high performance version of the BMW 5 Series executive saloon, built by BMW's M division. It began with the E28 in the mid 1980s and continued through the E34, E39, the V10 engined E60, F10, F90 and the plug in hybrid G90. Each generation combined a full size four door saloon with sports car performance.

On a used one

A full service history is essential: on the E39 check the timing chain guides, on the E60 the rod bearings and the SMG gearbox, and on later cars the turbochargers. Brakes, tyres and suspension wear quickly on these heavy and fast cars.
