MG Midget

Cars

The MG Midget is a small open top two seat sports car produced by MG as the entry level model in its range. It shared much of its platform and running gear with the Austin Healey Sprite. Over its production life it was fitted with a variety of four cylinder engines rising from around 1.0 litre to 1.5 litre, and later cars gained black rubber bumpers to meet US safety regulations.

Check for rust in the sills, floor pans, boot floor and rear wheel arches, which are common weak points. Verify the condition of the hood and frame, and check that the engine and gearbox have not suffered from oil leaks or worn synchromesh.
