Porsche Boxster

Cars

The Porsche Boxster is a two seat roadster with a flat six engine mounted in the middle, behind the seats. Introduced as the 986 and followed by the 987, the 981 and the 718, it is Porsche's entry sports car and shares much of its front end with the 911 of the same era. It is known for its balanced handling and has a fabric roof that folds electrically.

We recognise this model across the auction sites and keep every one we see together.

On a used one

On the 986 and early 987 ask whether the intermediate shaft bearing has been replaced, and check for bore scoring and oil leaks from the rear main seal. Look at the condition of the hood, the coolant radiators at the front and the service history.

Questions about Porsche Boxster auction prices

What does a Porsche Boxster sell for at auction?

In the 31 auction sales we recorded, the middle half fetched EUR 4.000 to EUR 10.000, with a median of about EUR 6.000. These are rounded hammer prices in euros, before the buyer's premium and VAT; what one machine fetches depends on its year, hours and condition, which the table shows next to each sale.

How many Porsche Boxster auction sales are on record?

31 sales with a published hammer price, closed between 10 December 2020 and 2 November 2026, on 14 auction sites in 4 countries. 56 more closed without a sale.

Is a Porsche Boxster at auction now?

6 vehicles of this model are at auction now; they are listed on this page with their current bid and when they close.

Are the Porsche Boxster hammer prices free to read?

The oldest sale of every model is free to read, and so is every hammer price under the site's floor. The other 30 hammer prices of the Porsche Boxster open with an account: every sale of the model for a year, or one sale on its own.

How often does a Porsche Boxster find a buyer at auction?

On the auction sites that publish the lots that failed to sell, 31 of 59 Porsche Boxster lots offered found a buyer: 53%. For cars as a whole it is 48%. Withdrawn lots are not counted.

Hammer prices are what the auction house recorded when the lot closed, before the buyer's premium, in the currency of the sale. A sale listed on a house's own site and on its platform counts once. Doubt a figure? Open the sale and its listing is linked there. How prices are recorded.
